What Happens When Resources Reach the Territories?
A Conversation on Territory-based Philanthropy Walking Hand in Hand with Local Climate Solutions
This session aims to explore the narrative of territory-based philanthropy, bringing experiences from the Global South and reflections from multiple funds that make up the Territorial Alliance of Rede Comuá and the #ShiftThePower Movement. It will also feature organizations that support civil society organizations (CSOs), such as Instituto Itaúsa, Instituto Sociedade, População e Natureza (ISPN), and FUNBIO, to discuss the urgent need for resources to reach territories and for the paradigm shifts in power dynamics and financial flows.
Funding for the Protection of Life and Territories
In a region marked by high levels of violence against human rights and environmental defenders, social justice philanthropy cannot remain distant from supporting their protection. This panel will share concrete experiences to highlight the urgency of rapid and emergency funding to protect lives, while also emphasizing the need for structural support — fostering a culture of holistic security, strengthening community communication, popular legal assistance, solidarity networks, and the promotion of solidarity networks and “good living” (buen vivir) in the territories.
